Description
Shea Vineyard, located in the Yamhill-Carlton sub-AVA, is commonly known as an Oregon “Grand Cru” site. The vines perch in sedimentary soil over fractured sandstone. We began sourcing our first block in 2002 and produced only 25 cases.
We continue to add new blocks each year, currently sourcing from seven blocks of Pinot Noir with clones 777, 114, Pommard, and Wädenswil, which consistently provide a signature spice and structure to the wine.
Ageing: 10 months in 36% new French Oak
Tasting: Aromas of sweet leather, rose petal and plum fill the senses before even taking a sip. On the palate, notes of fresh fig, vanilla, and pastry dough take over while the fine grain tannins and suppleness of this wine create a well-balanced finish.
