Description
Hailing from an old vine parcel near the holdings of Rousseau and Duroch, the 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is excellent, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, berries, dried flowers and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a generous core of fruit that cloaks its velvety tannins, displaying excellent energy and concluding with a persistent finish. This gets my nod as the finest of Arnaud Mortet's cuves for his own label this year.
